How the numbers here are made

Every figure on this site links to where it came from and shows the date it was last checked.

Short answer

This site publishes 154 sourced figures: 33 from government or regulator pages and 121 from named industry price guides. Nothing is estimated, averaged or rounded into existence. If we cannot source a number, it is not on the site.

Where the figures come from

  • Rules and rights come from the consumer agency that publishes them: the NSW Government, Queensland Government, Consumer Affairs Victoria, Consumer Protection WA, Consumer and Business Services SA, and the ACCC.
  • Prices come from named 2026 price guides published by Australian removal and storage businesses. They are labelled as industry figures wherever they appear, because they are one business's read on the market, not a survey.
  • Trade figures (search volumes, cost per click, business counts) come from Semrush AU data published in a keyword guide, and from IBISWorld.

What happens when sources disagree

We show both. For a 2-bedroom move from Sydney to Melbourne, True Load publishes $1,800-$3,200↗ for a dedicated truck and Yes Movers publishes $2,400-$4,200↗. Rather than average them into a number nobody published, both sit in the table on the interstate page with their names attached.

The same applies when a source contradicts itself. StoragePrices.au describes Adelaide as its most affordable city, yet its published Adelaide median of $235/mo↗ is above Brisbane's $181/mo↗. We print the numbers and say so.

What we could not verify

  • Licensing. We found no consumer-agency page describing a licence for furniture removalists in NSW, Queensland, Victoria or WA. They point to voluntary accreditation instead: AFRA membership is voluntary accreditation↗. So this site makes no claim that removalists are licensed or unlicensed.
  • "Holding goods hostage." The phrase is common online and absent from the official pages we read, so we describe what regulators actually documented instead.
  • Council parking fines and permit fees quoted in industry guides. We could not confirm them at the councils that set them, so they are not on the site.

How the figures stay current

Every figure carries a checked date and an expiry date. A build-time report lists anything past its expiry, and it is re-verified at the source before it stays up. Price guides are re-checked every six months, government pages every twelve, and sooner when a program changes.

What this site is not

We are not a removalist, a broker, or a government agency, and we are not affiliated with AFRA or any regulator. Nothing here is legal or financial advice. Every price is a published estimate, and only a removalist's own written quote is a price you can hold them to.

How the site is paid for

When you ask for quotes, we may pass your request to removalists who cover your route, and they may pay us for that introduction. We also build and sell websites to removal businesses. Neither changes a figure on this site: the prices come from published sources, and the sources are listed on every page that uses them.
